Food & Beverage Manager

Location: Mt. Washington Alpine Resort, 1 Strathcona Parkway, Mt. Washington, BC, Canada

Your Opportunity:

Mt. Washington Alpine Resort is about adventure. As a year-round recreation destination located on beautiful Vancouver Island, we are proud to offer our guests memorable dining experiences that compliment our outdoor activities and magnificent scenery.

We have an opportunity for a skilled Food & Beverage Manager to oversee and develop the Resort’s culinary operations. The successful Manager will improve our guests’ experience, develop business opportunities, attain industry standards for cost of goods, seek branding opportunities, and exceed the bottom line on budgets.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the department including kitchen manager, assistant managers, and all other department supervisors; actively recruit staff and develop staff for supervisory positions; coach and teach supervisors.
  • Direct menu creation and implementation while improving quality of service and products.
  • Implement cost controls for labour, food, and beverage; develop purchasing programs to ensure best possible pricing with suppliers.
  • Develop and implement new business opportunities and refine existing ones to maximize profits and guest service; actively market operations such as through catering and conferences; increase catering and conference business by providing exceptional experiences; capitalize on night skiing sales opportunities.
  • Create annual operating plans with budgets that are attainable yet push the limits of revenue and net contribution.
  • Support initiatives from the senior management team.
  • Monitor and stay ahead of trends in the industry.
  • Assist in planning all capital and expansion programs.
  • Continually stay ahead of the curve in F&B innovations and current trends.
  • Ensure the safety of all staff and guests at the resort.
  • Exceed expectations and performance standards set with the Director, Hospitality Operations.

 

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Several years of experience in the food service sector, including supervisory experience.
  • Serving-It-Right certification.
  • Completion of a college or other program related to hospitality or food and beverage service management would be an asset.
