JOB DESCRIPTION

A member of our Safe Team Patrol (Safe Slopes) is one of the most important aspects to a ski hill Risk Management program. Our Safe Team members are some of the first people at the hill and some of the last to leave. They are fit and competent skiers and boarders. They operate in the most beautiful and challenging environments around. They are involved in almost all parts of the Alpine operation, from Patrolling to hazard identification and from customer relations to incident investigations. A successful Safe Team candidate will be self-motivated but also work well in a team environment being cooperative and creative. Our Safe Team members will have the ability to generate good times for themselves, their co-workers and the public both on and off the clock.

  QUALIFICATIONS:

  • First Aid experience not required
  • Competent alpine skier,  telemark skier, or snowboarder in all snow conditions and terrain
  • Knowledge of Mount Washington ski area an asset
  • Being physical fit and being able to work in all weather conditions
  • Attention to detail
  • Good oral and written communication skills  
  • The desire and ability to operate in a challenging alpine environment for sustained periods of time is a must

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The ability to perform duties and tasks assigned by the Risk Manager, Patrol Director or designate
  • Education and enforcement of the Alpine responsibility code
  • Education and enforcement of slow skiing areas
  • Risk management, hazard recognition and marking
  • Assist in Lift evacuation
  • Assist in search and rescue
  • Snowmobile operation
  • Weather observation and reporting
  • Participate in avalanche rescue
  • Adhere to Mount Washington Standard Operating Procedures
  • Attended Mount Washington training
  • Have fun, work hard and play hard!
