Head Housekeeper

Location: Mt. Washington Alpine Resort, 1 Strathcona Parkway, Mount Washington, BC, Canada

Employment Type: Full time, Year Round

Reports To: Accommodations Manager

Your Opportunity:

Are you a friendly, outgoing and energetic team player? Come join the Mt. Washington Slopeside Accommodations team. We are currently looking for staff in our Housekeeping department at Bear & Deer Lodges.

As Head Housekeeper, you will oversee the housekeeping department and ensure all daily duties are completed, meeting high cleaning standards while operating a highly functional, organized, and efficient department.

  • Hire, train, and supervise all housekeeping staff as well as team leaders, ensuring they are completing daily tasks 
  • Schedule staff while monitoring hours and overtime, ensuring there are an appropriate number of staff on shift based on occupancy 
  • Co-ordinate laundry pick up and delivery 
  • Maintain and order inventory including cleaning supplies and in-room inventory; ensure inventory is stored properly when it arrives
  • Communicate with Accommodations Manager requirements for linens, pillows, and larger in-room items such as hide-a-beds, blinds, other furniture
  • Ensure all rooms are cleaned to department standards and updated in administrative system
  • Co-ordinate and execute annual cleaning & steam cleaning of carpets 
  • Ensure team reports all damages to rooms to Accommodation’s Manager
  • Become fluent with each owner’s special requirements and each suite’s idiosyncrasies 
  • Ensure Occupational Health and Safety policies and standards are met within housekeeping department, and act as departmental representative on committee 
  • Ensure that the staff room is clean, including fridge, garbage, recycling, linens, vacuum, dishes, bathrooms, floors
  • Lost & found: ensure all items left in rooms are labeled, documented and stored in appropriate place
  • Complete daily door check and return master keys at the end of the day 
  • Adhere to departmental policies and standards of conduct Maintain a high level of professionalism while fostering good team morale
  • Perform housekeeping and other accommodation duties as required.


Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Excellent time management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Supervisory experience would be an asset
  • Cleaning experience an asset, however, we will train.
