JOB DESCRIPTION

Mount Washington Alpine Resort is seeking a full time Human Resources Manager.  A full job description follows. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Purpose of the position: 

The Human Resources Manager maintains and enhances the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.

Essential functions:

  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Maintains organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; coaching managers and supervisors on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending changes.
  • Establishes standards for employee orientation and training programs and assists in the delivery of programs to supervisors and managers.   Researches appropriate offsite training programs for managers.
  • Establishes a standard for employee performance evaluation.  Monitors appraisal of employee work results.  Trains managers to coach and discipline employees.
  • Maintains a compensation plan by conducting periodic wage surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.
  • Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.  Implements the maintenance of these records in ADP going forward.
  • Maintains employee benefits programs, directing the processing of benefit claims; designs and conducts educational programs on benefit programs in association with Booth Scott.  Works with the Payroll Administrator to bill employees for their benefits and assists in reconciliation of billings.
  • Leads and executes annual Employee Opinion Survey.
  • Prepares and leads monthly manager/supervisor training exercise.
  • Administers Employee Experience events and activities budget.
  • Works closely with and supports Risk & OH&S Manager with Return to Work & WCB claims.
  • Is an active member of the resort OH&S Committee.
  • Maintains and updates employee handbook.
  • Liaises with Payroll & Benefits coordinator to ensure timely and accurate information is received.
  • Is the back up to the Payroll Administrator for processing ADP payroll
  • Is accessible to all staff for consultation.  Hears and assists in resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Manage any existing staff housing options, and explore and develop new housing opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resource management, 3-5 years experience in a similar role
  • CHRP designation an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of BC Employment Standards Act

Reports to:  Director of Finance and Administration
