JOB DESCRIPTION

Lift Operations Manager

Location: Mt. Washington Alpine Resort, 1 Strathcona Parkway, Mt. Washington, BC

Employment Type: Seasonal, full time, with primary operations in the winter and summer. Additional projects may be available in the off-seasons for the right candidate.

Reports To: Director, Mountain Operations

As the Lift Operations Manager, you are a professional who thrives on challenges. With your background working with ski lifts, you will oversee the Resort’s lift operations, building and training teams, managing daily staff assignments, and enforcing all rules, regulations, and policies of Mount Washington Alpine Resort. As a bonus, take in the breathtaking views of the coastal mountains and Salish sea from the summit of our picturesque resort.

Hours are variable and include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the reliable and safe operations of all lifts and related services
  • Direct staff hiring, scheduling, team building and administration
  • Hold weekly staff meetings      
  • Train and maintain WSBC and TSBC regulations and procedures
  • Perform and supervise all work in accordance with established safety and inspection procedures, including training, pre-start up, shut down and post operational procedures
  • Ensure proper record keeping including daily lift logs, personnel training records and uniform inventory
  • Perform a variety of routine and some non-routine accounting functions including annual budget analyses and submissions including variance returns as required
  • Develop, recommend, and administer Risk Assessment and Risk Minimization programs
  • Report lift accidents and incidents and assist Safe Slopes with investigations when requested
  • Implement and enforce all Resort policies and procedures
  • Maintain a high level of team moral and motivation
  • Perform duties as required to ensure successful operation of the department including support of other departments and special promotions.
  • Liaise with other departmental supervisors as required to ensure business objectives are met
  • Ensure all staff are treated fairly and handle all interactions with respect.

 

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable in operation of ski lifts
  • Proven leadership and training skills
  • Knowledge of Z-98 code          
  • Good knowledge of WSCB and TSBC regulations
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Strong skier/snowboarder/telemark skier
  • Self motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven guest service skills
  • Competent computer skills
