JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Mount Washington Alpine Resort

Employment Type: Seasonal Winter Full Time

Reports to: Snow School Manager and designates

Your Opportunity:

As a Head Cashier, you will demonstrate exceptional guest service and staff leadership. The Head Cashier assists with coordination of ski and snowboard lessons and programs as well as to delegate nightly staff assignments, assists in training and liaises between the Sales and Snow School departments.

Working closely with the Sales Assistant Manager/Coordinator you will oversee the operation of the Snow School Desk and Mountain Kids sales areas. You will strive to meet the service expectations of all guests through consistent team effort and courteous customer service all while ensuring a fun, positive, safe and secure working environment.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

This role requires a blend of sales, customer service and leadership skills as follows.

Sales and Customer Service:

  • Proven customer service expertise at a front desk or equivalent, building strong relationships with guests
  • Experience balancing value to guests and profitability to the organization
  • Competence with computers and numbers
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling cash
  • Knowledge of point-of-sales systems, particularly Siriusware, is a definite asset
  • Passion for people and the outdoors

Leadership:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience and proven ability to professionally coach staff through demanding situations
  • Excellent communication, organization and customer service skills
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting up workstations and sales terminals
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels
  • Communicate and liaise Snow School-related concerns to the Coordinator / Snow School Management Team.
  • Review business and administrative tasks (i.e. promotions and/or large groups) with the Coordinator / Assistant Snow School Manager (Sales & Admin) and other Head Cashiers
  • Check-in staff for their scheduled shift
  • Assist with Snow School assignment as needed
  • Coach staff on how to resolve questions and concerns
  • Provide appropriate training to staff
  • Communicate and liaise with Rentals Supervisor / Manager of rental-related questions
  • Prepare Mountain Kids Name sheets and any other outstanding tasks required
  • Be available to frontline staff at all times for voids, printer issues, general problem solving, etc.
  • Delegate and perform general janitorial duties as needed
  • Attend departmental meetings as required
  • Support the Coordinator in staff break rotations.
  • Delegate phone messages and Call Centre duties to cashiers during slow times
  • Ensure accuracy of individual staff cash-outs and issue change
  • Ensure all cash tills are submitted end of day and all settlements are properly processed on Chase machines
  • Ensure end-of-day procedures and lock-up is completed
  • Operate the point-of-sale system when needed
  • Keep up to date on all new and existing products and services offered throughout the Resort.
  • Maintain professional grooming and appearance
  • Assist in other department operations when required
  • Develop superior knowledge of the Comox Valley and surrounding area
  • Develop exceptional knowledge of resort-related information including hours of operation, events, promotions, and Snow School programs
  • Ensure the safety and security of the resort, co-workers and guests by adhering to all policies and procedures outlined within the Supervisor Manual and enforce all rules, regulations and policies of Mount Washington Alpine Resort.
