Reports To: Director of Mountain Operations/Lift & Tube Operations Manager

As the Lift Operations Supervisor, you are responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of the ski lifts by the lift operations team. In addition to carrying out other tasks asked of you. Previous experience in a Supervisory role, managing a team and either as a lift operator is an asset. The lift operations team consists of around 70-80 employees varying from F/T to P/T positions. You need to be able to direct a team positively and lead by example while providing a safe and fun experience for your team and guests.

Good time management and the ability to prioritize tasks is key as there are a number of time orientated jobs which need completing before public arrive. Some tasks include but not limited to moving ski racks, snow removal, maze set ups, pre-operational checks, etc. You must be physically fit as most of your scheduled shift may be spent outside in all weather conditions.

Customer Service is in every part of this position, being able to deal with the public in a calm, friendly, helpful and courteous manner is a must. You will need to take the lead on fixing ticketing issues and help solve customer problems.


  • Proven Leadership skills.

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role is required.

  • Knowledge of Z-98 code.

  • Good knowledge of WSCB and BCSA regulations.

  • Able to assist with the develop of and manage departmental budgets.

  • Knowledgeable in operation of different types of ski lifts.

  • Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Must have previous experience as a lift operator.

  • Strong skier or snowboarder.

  • Self motivated with a strong work ethic.

  • Mature, dependable and energetic, with the ability to think on your feet and take initiative.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Proven Guest Services skills.

  • Be a professional who thrives on challenges with excellent time management.

  • Excellent Computer Skills.

  • Train the Train certificate an asset but not required.


  • Safe and efficient operations of all lifts at Mount Washington.

  • Lead by setting positive examples for new staff.

  • Staff hiring, scheduling and administration.

  • Daily assignments of lifts to scheduled staff.

  • Hold daily pre-shift meetings and end of day meeting with supervisory team.

  • Train and maintain WSBC and BCSA regulations and procedures.

  • Ensure all Mount Washington Alpine Resort policies are adhered to.

  • Performs and supervises all work in accordance with established safety and inspection procedures, including training, pre-start up, shut down and post operational procedures.

  • Ensure proper records including; Daily lift logs, personnel training records and uniform inventory

  • Performs a variety of routine and some non-routine accounting functions including annual budget analysis and submissions including variance returns as required.

  • Develop, recommend and administer Risk Assessment and Risk Minimization programs for the departmental workplaces. Investigate and report on accidents and incidents as required.

  • Work with the OH&S Manager on return to work and modified duties for injured employees.

  • Provide orientation and training to new employees in the department.

  • Update and maintain training manuals, departmental policies and procedures and job descriptions.

  • Complete employee reviews, disciplinary actions and terminations.

  • Promote Mount Washington’s employee recognition program.

  • Assist with the set up and daily running of the Tube Park when required.

  • Assist other departments such as Patrol and Lift Maintenance when required.

  • Ensure all grooming requests are communicated.


  • Maintain a high level of morale and motivation of staff

  • Adhere to all Mount Washington Alpine Resort policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

  • Attend all required Mount Washington Alpine Resort orientation and training sessions

  • Perform duties as required to ensure successful operation of the department including support of other departments and special promotions.

  • Ensure all staff are treated fairly and handle all interactions with respect.

  • Encourage teamwork and create enthusiasm throughout all of Mount Washington Alpine Resort.


The schedule for this shift is 4 days on 3 days off. These are 10 hour days. All successful applicants are asked to sign an averaging agreement allowing you to work up to 10 hours in a day at a regular rate of pay before starting the position. This enables you to get full time hours while having 3 days off. Shifts start at 6:30am to 5pm or 11:30am to 10pm (on night ski nights only). You will be expected to pick up an extra shift over the holiday period if required.
